THE INNOCENT ARCHETYPE

September 15, 20222 min read

"The best people possess a feeling for beauty, the courage to take risks, the discipline to tell the truth, the capacity for sacrifice. Ironically, their virtues make them vulnerable; they are often wounded, sometimes destroyed." - Ernest Hemingway

The innocent archetype

Innocence can be defined in two ways. One can be of the legal context, meaning no crime is committed. The second can be a lack of experience, usually applied to babies or children. These two ways may be different in meaning but have the same outline. Being pure to oneself.

The Innocent also may be known as Pollyanna, puer or puella, utopian, traditionalist, naive, mystic, saint, romantic, traditionalist, dreamer. The Hero and the Outlaw.

Personality

The Innocent as a personality

As a personality, they are optimistic, happy, and naive. That is why the Innocent archetype is sometimes perceived as a kid whose ideals are pure and uncorrupted. Their goal is to always do good and make everyone happy. Spreading positivity, seeing things on the brighter side, their optimism shines and reflects everyone around them.

The Innocent as a Brand

Brands that have the Innocent archetype practice simple values. They send a happy message to their audience. One example would be a brand that sells baby products. They will use ads that have childhood elements. The sense of familiarity, nostalgia, and memories. Every Innocent archetype brand feels close to our heart because it radiates joy and compassion.

The Shadow of the Innocent

The Innocent, if abused, develops repression. When an Innocent personality has repression, they restrain their memories from remembering those bad experiences. The memory will affect that person without even realizing it.
