HOW TO RETAIN GOOD CLIENTELE

September 15, 20222 min read

Getting clients is one thing. Being able to keep them is another altogether! You want to be the best at your job, and to be able to keep the customers you have. How can you retain clients, even while building your base?

Identify Your Ideal Client

You know what your specialty should be, and what kind of client is attracted to your personality and demeanor. Your ideal client responds well to your particular pattern! Finding an “ideal client” type is similar to finding out what kind of friends you like to be with. Some prefer one group and some another. It’s not at all bad to be able to speak well to sportsmen instead of academia, or vice versa! Once you’ve hooked their attention or they’ve started the sales process, having a good close and follow-up is crucial. Loyalty programs, integrations, and other features are crucial.

Give Them What They Want

All human beings like to be respected and honored in some way. Your responsibility is to find out how your client needs to be respected and have that honoring shown. All customers want personalized experiences. When your client has this personalized experience, they feel like they are a VIP. Every individual wants to do business with those who make them feel that their business is both individually important and respected by the sales team, regardless of whether it is for a million-dollar order, or if it’s for a small office. Knowing your client individually helps you establish and keep that relationship.

Gratitude Matters

Your customer’s personalized relationship with you depends upon your actions. If your customer is also a salesperson? Buying their products or co-promoting them is a great thing to do. If you make a mistake, as all individuals (and companies) do? Leadership means being able to, and knowing when to, apologize, sincerely, and repairing the friendship. Write genuine letters of gratitude to those who work with you and who help you in your own work. It matters! Treat clients as you would any relationship you want to last.

Your client relationships fuel your capability to be a good salesperson. Without them, you can’t be effective or help your business grow. Treat them like the important asset which they are to your business, and you will keep all of the best!
